Martin Lawrence slipped back into his most famous disguise in February 2011 with Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son, the third film in the series that began with Big Momma’s House in 2000.
This time FBI agent Malcolm Turner brings his stepson Trent, played by Brandon T. Jackson, along for the undercover ride: after Trent witnesses a crime, the two hide out at an all-girls performing arts school, with Malcolm as Big Momma and Trent disguised as “Charmaine.” John Whitesell directed.
Critics were not kind, but audiences showed up: the film opened to about $16.3 million on February 18 and went on to earn roughly $83 million worldwide. It remains the last time Lawrence played the character.
