2012: Jamie Foxx Hosts SNL on the Way to Django Unchained

Jamie Foxx closed out 2012 in a big way. On December 8 he hosted Saturday Night Live for the second time, with Ne-Yo as the musical guest, as he promoted his starring role in Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained.

Foxx leaned into his roots in sketch comedy, including a sketch in which he played Tyler Perry and Madea. The In Living Color alum had first hosted SNL in 2000, when Any Given Sunday was turning him into a dramatic actor.

Django Unchained opened on Christmas Day 2012, with Foxx in the title role as a freed slave searching for his wife, and became one of the biggest films of his career, another chapter in the journey of a comic who became an Oscar winner.
