Why is okay for Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle to use the “H” word, but not for Don Imus?

Chris Rock
w5pollar asked:

I understand what Don said wasn’t funny and Chris Rock is hilarious. That is the only difference that has been presented in the media that I’ve heard, but that shouldn’t matter.

If you think because Don is white, he can’t say certain words, you are a racist. When you have different standards for a person simply because of the color of their skin, you in fact are racist.

  1. Chris Rock is not part of a race of genocidal maniacs so lazy they had to enslave a whole people to develop their country. A race so filthy and backwards a third of them dies of the plague before they found indians and africans to bathe them. That’s why, pilgrim.

  2. b/c they need to get over there selfs look at carlos mencia.we dont take offense.its a excuse they can used b/c they seem to think the white man keeps them down and it has nothibg to do with there free homes from habit for humanity or there free food stamps and medical coverage or the section 8 the white man gives them.or even the college education there kids get.they really need to grow up you dont hear the jews complaining and as far as im concerned they have more of a right to complain. most slaves had a good life and trust me if they where beaten so was the white women in the house

  3. What I found funny was an interview with Jesse Jackson about it and how he changed the subject when confronted about his bid for presidency and referring to New York as “Hymietown.”

  4. It is a color thing man. If you are white, you can’t even utter the offensive words (even here)…It offends blacks. Don Imus should have known that. It is more acceptable for blacks to use the same self-offensive words. Although many blacks are offended by black comedians, the thinly veiled humor is funny to some. Racism is racism…just listen to how the two you named talk about white people, too! Perpetuating racism is wrong even if your name is Sharpton, Jackson, Chappelle or Rock.

  5. Below is a link to the comments. They should never have been utterred. BUT i agree you can’t have different standards for different races. That is BS. If it wrong for Imus it is wrong for everyone else. Imus, like the rest of us, is berated with examples of others uttering these ugly slurs. Those folks are not held accountable but now he should be? Give me a break. As an aside, I think Rosenberg’s comments were as bad or worse and where is the outrage for him? This is an issue that has received too much press. Because, however, it allows for several public figures an oppportunity to expose their rightous indignation it will not go away. If we as a society are as outraged at these comments regardless of skin color, then fire Imus. If not, he needs to apologize (sincerely) and let it be done.

  6. Age old. Blacks and whites are to be one, until it comes to something they want seperate. Then it’s back to square one.
You don’t want to hear the words, then everyone stop using them. You don’t want depicted any certain way, then stop acting that way. That goes for every race, not just one.
And for the guy who wrote the crap about plague and dirt and indians, get your head out of your ass. Come on. What, you’re probably twenty or so preaching to the world on this stuff? Before going that route, think, who was the first slaves?
Whitey’s. roman whites. I know of no white preaching against the world for it.
It’s a small world. Phrases come and go, but with all of us and all the different races living side by side so tightly, slang and phrases come out easily. It’s everyday life.
Come on, “not bad for a monday” was definately made up by some white guy, and everyone uses it…..

  7. Imus was directing it to a SPECIFIC group of women. Rock and Chappelle use in in general terms in their comedy. Imus was NOT trying to be funny, he was just being mean and rude.
