Tracy Morgan has never been shy about pushing buttons, and he is not about to start now. The Saturday Night Live veteran, who plays the unpredictable star Tracy Jordan on NBC’s 30 Rock, says political correctness is killing comedy.
In a 2008 interview, Morgan said nothing should be off limits to a comedian, whether the subject is race, religion or anything else, and that he dislikes feeling like he has to tiptoe on stage. He credited 30 Rock’s unlikely mix of characters for its cult following and said the show pushes boundaries in a way he wished more network TV would.
For Morgan, the job is simple: be funny. Everything else, he says, gets in the way.
